What Are Complete Dentures?
Complete dentures are removable oral appliances that replace all the teeth in the upper or lower arch after the natural teeth have been lost or removed. They consist of a denture base and artificial teeth and are designed based on impressions of the patient’s mouth.
Complete dentures restore the patient’s ability to speak and eat normally and also have aesthetic benefits. They are held in place by suction or dental adhesives.
Are Complete Dentures Right for Me?
Complete dentures are a common treatment option for patients who have lost all or most of their teeth due to tooth decay, periodontal disease, or trauma. They can replace all the teeth in the upper and/or lower dental arch.
Complete dentures may be the right option for you if you are looking for a durable and convenient tooth replacement solution. To learn more about your options and determine if complete dentures are right for you, we encourage you to schedule an appointment with our denturist.
How Are Complete Dentures Made?
Complete dentures consist of a base made from acrylic and artificial teeth that replace all of the teeth in the upper or lower arch. The denture base is molded to fit your mouth and colored to look like the gums. It rests on the gums. The base of your dentures will be designed based on impressions of your mouth and precise measurements. This will ensure a secure and comfortable fit so that your dentures do not slide out or cause any discomfort.
The denture base is fitted with artificial teeth made from ceramic, porcelain, or other tooth-colored materials. After any necessary adjustments are made, you will walk out the door with a brand-new smile!
How Do Complete Dentures Stay in Place?
Complete dentures rest on the gums and use suction to stay in place. In order to securely fit your mouth, the denture needs to be designed based on precise measurements and impressions.
Some patients prefer to use dental adhesives to keep their dentures secure and ensure they don’t move or slip out when they are eating or speaking.
The Benefits of Complete Dentures
Losing most or all of your natural teeth can generate a host of issues. Not only will you lose your ability to chew food and speak properly, but your facial muscles will lose their support and start sagging, making you appear older than you actually are.
Complete dentures are designed to restore your ability to chew, speak, and smile. They also enhance your facial appearance, giving you a more youthful look.
